An-26
Tactical transport model. Most common variant of An-26. NATO reporting name Curl-A.
An-26B
Updated transport variant for civilian use. Features uprated AI-24VT engines, has cargo rollers in the floor and lacks navigation blister on left side of cockpit. Introduced in 1981 with a total of 114 built.
An-26RT
Communications relay aircraft for long range battlefield communications.
An-26RTR
Series of ELINT aircraft with sensor suites varying over time. A total of 42 built. NATO reporting name: Curl-B.
An-26Sh
Military navigation trainer aircraft with 10 seats for students. A total of 36 built from 1972 to 1973.
An-26LP
Firefighting version. At least 9 converted from existing An-26.

Prototypes and one-off conversions

Over 20 variants of the An-26 have been produced. Most variants had only one or two aircraft converted. Some of these are prototypes that were to be produced in series, such as the An-26A assault transport or An-26D long range variant with external fuel tanks.

Many others are specialist variants to test equipment, such as anti-submarine warfare sensors, laser targeting systems, communications equipment, navigation calibration, flying hospital, weather control and arctic surveillance.
